Weekly Themes

Every week we will offer a variety of activities to cater to all campers’ interests including: sports, dance instruction, guest speakers, cooking club, water games, buddies’ program, art, science, gardening and many more!  Fridays will be for fiesta, showcasing what campers have learned each week and celebrating the Latino culture as we know it best, with some music and yummy treats!

Week 1 

Caribbean Rhythms:
Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Cuba

¡Bienvenidos al Caribe! This week, campers will groove to the beats of salsa, merengue, and son Cubano as they explore the vibrant cultures of Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba. From creating colorful tropical crafts to tasting kid-friendly versions of traditional dishes like arroz con habichuelas, it’s a week full of sunny island vibes and playful Spanish learning. 

Tropical Adventures:
Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama

Week 3

¡Exploradores, prepárense! This week is all about adventure as we journey through the lush rainforests and golden beaches of Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. Campers will learn Spanish while spotting wildlife, creating rainforest-inspired crafts, and even discovering the engineering marvel of the Panama Canal.  

Week 5

Mystical Mountains:
Peru, Bolivia, and Chile 

¡Hola, aventureros! This week, we’ll climb the Andes and explore the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu, the salt flats of Bolivia, and the deserts of Chile. Campers will create their own llamas, try tasty alfajores, and learn Spanish words as they uncover the legends of the mystical mountains.  

Week 2

Mesoamerica Marvels:
Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala

¡Vámonos a la tierra de los Mayas! Campers will dive into the wonders of Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala, exploring ancient pyramids, making "papel picado" decorations, and learning about magical legends. With lively music, fun games like “lotería,” and delicious treats like guacamole to enjoy, this week will transport kids to the heart of Central America.  

Week 4

Andean Beats and Amazon Treats: Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela

¡Arriba los Andes! Get ready to dance to cumbia and joropo as we explore the rich cultures of Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. From crafting vibrant masks inspired by Andean festivals to sampling delicious arepas, campers will discover the colors, music, and magic of these incredible countries. 

Week 6

Southern Flare:
Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay  

¡Vamos al sur! Campers will tango their way through Argentina, discover the Guaraní culture of Paraguay, and enjoy the sunny shores of Uruguay. With fun soccer games, art projects inspired by gaucho life, and mouth-watering treats like empanadas, this week will be a grand finale filled with lively learning and Latin flair.

Situated in Philadelphia's historic Old City district, this luminous building features a grand banquet hall, gymnasium, kitchen, meeting rooms, library, office space, outdoor grounds, and a roof deck. Somos will utilize a 1,800-square-foot classroom with abundant natural light on the second floor, boasting its own entrance, restrooms, and roof-top garden for age-based group activities, outdoor water play, and gardening.
