My Story
Originally hailing from the picturesque country of Belize in Central America, Keisha experienced the unique convergence of languages—Kriol, English, and Spanish. Growing up, she was fluent in Kriol while honing her skills in English and Spanish through formal education. Despite leading a bicultural life, mastering Spanish remained a lifelong aspiration for Keisha, one she continues to pursue diligently. With a desire to impart the gift of bilingualism to her children and instill pride in their Belizean roots, she has remained steadfast in her commitment.

For the past two decades, Keisha has called Philadelphia home, living with her husband, three children, and beloved dog Ziggy. Passionate about catalyzing positive change, she has dedicated herself to empowering marginalized communities through law, advocacy, and activism. Through The Narrative, Keisha strives to unleash children's potential for social change by involving them in decision-making and providing access to resources, mentorship, and participation opportunities. She believes in nurturing lifelong agents of positive change through ongoing support and encouragement. This belief is one she actively instills in her children as well.

Co-founding Somos Philly was a natural extension of Keisha's passion for nurturing young minds and fostering an appreciation for Latin culture and the Spanish language. Keisha remains steadfast in her belief that fostering Spanish proficiency not only preserves and honors linguistic heritage but also enhances our cultural tapestry and strengthens connections with Spanish-speaking communities, both near and far. Moreover, she firmly advocates for the significance of community in cultivating empathy, fostering social cohesion, and constructing a more inclusive society, principles that are integral to the mission of Somos Philly.
